Centenary Dinner - 100 Years of ACT Farming Advocacy (1926-2026)

ACT Farmers marked 100 years of organised farming advocacy in the Territory at a Centenary Celebration Dinner held at Old Parliament House on Saturday 5 September 2026.

The evening brought together ACT farming families to recognise the contribution farmers have made to the Canberra region over the past century, and to look ahead to the future of farming in the ACT.

ACT farmers steward around 15% of the Territory's land, across more than 160 landholdings. That land does far more than grow food and fibre. It protects the cultural landscape, supports tourism, manages natural resources, and helps protect Canberra from fire and flood. The dinner was a chance to recognise a century of that work and to look ahead to the next one.

Guests were welcomed to the Old Parliament House dining room for a two-course dinner, followed by remarks from the ACT Minister for Environment and short speeches from guest speakers. The night included the ceremonial cutting of the centenary cake and live music, and gave members and guests plenty of time to catch up across generations of farming families.
